Just need some suggestions really.

At the moment I have a Dell 2407 screen that is connected to my PC.

Anyway, I just got a PS3 quite cheaply and was wondering what monitor to get which will be the same resolution as the Dell (so I can use it as a 2nd screen with the PC) but also good for PS3 gaming?

The 2407 doesn't have HDMI so I can't connect it up with the HDMI cable I got with my PS3 ........ :p :(

Or am I missing something obvious?

I got my PS3 connected to my 2407 via a HDMI-DVI adaptor that came with my mobo.

Oh cool!

I have something similar to that, how do you output the sound though? :o

Bit more complicated, use the AV cables (red, white, yellow) and connect a phono adaptor and a 3.5mm coupler to the red and white(sound). You have to enable the sound to go through the separate lines in a setting in the control panel. can't mention the shop cos of competitor rule but you can find them on the high street

a second monitor doesn't need to be the same res.. throw a 32-42" 1080p HDTV in for the PS3 and use the connection like above for DVI-HDMI so that you can use your tv as your second monitor.

I've done it for a few years now and its awesome so long as you buy a decent 1080

I doubt a 32" - 42" TV will fit on my desk at UNI :p thanks for the suggestion though.

Only reason why I was thinking it needs to be the same res is because I thought both monitors need to be the same res to be able to extend the desktop from the 1st screen?

If Dell still made the 2408, I would have bought that without thinking twice :o

Second monitor doesn't need to be the same res. I 've had different res monitors for years. It certainly makes it easier if you have two of the same ones.
