2x Spinpoint F3's Raid 0 Performance

@ OP: Scaling looks about right, this is 3 x F3s:

Good for games / video processing etc, but they resonate annoyingly in this particular case, ditching them all once Intel's G3 hits!

Anyone know why the OP's is so much quicker than mine?

I have 2 WD Black Series in RAID0.

Could be the controller on the motherboard. Is OP using a seperate card or one inbuilt? Intel are usually faster than other companies for RAID as well.

Could also be his drives are faster, but I didn't think there would be that much difference myself.

Im Using the Built in Sata 3Gb/s ports on my Mobo (Gigabyte P67A-UD4, Not the 6Gb/s Ports).

Check my Sig for an Updated Rig information for comparison :)

I'm using 2 7200.12s in RAID 0 on the onboard controller on my M4A89GTD Pro motherboard. Nothing special, and I'm pretty happy with the performance.

I have now upgraded to an Asus P8P-67 Pro and Core i5 2500k and it's only slightly quicker than before, still way off even the figres ghop has.

I always thought the WD Black Series were quite quick drives, but he is a clear 50mb/s ahead of me?

I'm using the Intel RAID controller...?

I've just installed two 1Tb Hitachi Deskstar's (meant to order the F3's but something messed up) and a quick benchmark shows they are mid way between your stats and the OP's. For your reference the board is a Gigabyte GA 965P DS3P, and the HDD's are on the Intel ICH8R controller.

And which Black drives do you have exactly ? How does HD Tune bench look ?

Why arent my F3s as fast as the OPs?

I remembered I havnt defragged in ages so I went to defrag them only to find that my schedule had done them automatically yesterday.

I've done the ATTO benchmark multiple times to make sure the graph I linked wasnt a fluke and it's still roughly the same ~270mb/s read ~300mb/s write.

Hello,

Was just wondered if this performance is good for these two drives in raid 0

*snip*

Im Quite shocked at how high it is (On some of them) i dont really know which each set of Green and Red bars represent.

Thanks

these certainly are brilliant drives and the failure rate is also exceptionally low making them a fantastic purchase. The F4 2TB is also just as fast due to its platter arrangement if anyone is curious :)

2 750Gb AALS drives.

I may be wrong here, but I think the 640gb drives are quicker

Hard drives keep getting faster and faster though

Here's my new Samsung F4 (5400rpm) vs my WD Blue (7200rpm)

For a good performance boost, run Windows from something like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-047-OC&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=910 and have your Games / files on the blacks. Obviously make sure you have backups of the things you need on the blacks etc etc, the lower seek times make Windows super snappy

Below is the Picture of my Performance when i first got the Drives on the SATA II 3Gb/s Ports.

i Then Re-tested the harddrives and could never touch near the 300mb/s barrier. i switched them to the 6Gb/s Ports and it still wasnt touching the 300mb/s barrier

So i left it a month or so then ran the test. My results seem to have improved since my other benchmarks. Pic Below.
