Hey Guys,

Ive just brought another 74Gb Raptor to place in a Raid 0 setup. I use my machine for everything, but mainly gaming. I want the fastest disc access but really not sure what cluster size to use.

Ive been scanning the forum and it seems there are loads of mixed opinions. I was orignally going to go for 64k, but quite a few people with the same setup have gone for 32k or 16k.

Im really not sure what to used.

Any suggestions??

Cheers in Advance. :)

Smaller stripe sizes will give better read performance with smaller files, larger stripes work better for larger files. Which is best for you will depend on the specific software you're running.

64K is a pretty good middle ground.

Thank you :)

I was going to e-mail and as you today rpstewart, Ive been searching non-stop on the forum over the last couple of days. Seems everyones needs are different tho.

Will it make a big difference if im more suited to a smaller size?

Im normally playing BF2142, photoshopping and website designing.

If the Raptors are 8MB cache, then that is about right, I have 2 x 74GB Raptors on ICH7R and get 115MB/sec, I am using a 32KB stripe, with cluster size of 4KB (XP default). :)
