Hi,

Just looked at my bios and seen CPU is set to stock settings to run at 3.16GHZ.

In coretemp underload (speed step enabled) it shows 3.16GHZ.

But in CPU-z and 3dmark it is running at 2.997GHZ underload.

I am sure there is a simple reason for this that I am missing - can anyone enlighten me?

Which version of CPU-Z?
Maybe they are missing the .5 multiplier.
9*333=2997
9.5*333=3.16

I'd make sure your motherboard has the latest BIOS. Sounds like a BIOS issue to me.
Edit: According to Gigabytes page you need at least Bios F6 to support your CPU, but they're up to F8b

tbh your CPU isn't very well matched to that motherboard. It has an old chipset, low features and you're running a top spec CPU on it. Personally I'd upgrade the board as that board is so limited it doesn't even support Quad cpu's

Don't worry - mine's the same:

CPU-Z and OCCT don't show the 0.5x multi but core temp's reading it right as the extra half multi is enabled in bios.

Strange?!

Thought might be the case as it is being read right in bios (F7).

To be honest I was recommended the board as it's stable and I'm not overclocking or anything. Just simple gaming and movies :)
