The alleged instigator, Demetrius Oglesby, 18, faces a felony charge of resisting arrest after authorities said he ran from a police officer.

Greeks are always better behaved when they live outside Greece

Talk about over the top...

Yes the food fight was.

Thats the problem with these things, what becomes a bit of fun soon gets out of hand. I bet none of the people involved in the food fight are actually going to stay behind and help clear up their mess for example? And according to the article a police officer was actually injured in the fight. Do these people not know when enough is enough?

You mean he tripped over someone, it's not like he was attacked and beaten is it?

Why on earth were the police involved anyways, it was a sodding food fight not an all out war with munitions.

Detentions and maybe expulsion, but criminal charges....jesus!

Tripped over someone because these kids were out of control. Criminal charges yes, because these kids need to learn that there are consequences to their anti-social actions.

I think you'll find it was a very social interaction. Also they should be able to get out of the charges by stating they watched the three stooges throwing custard pies or any 80's kids TV show and thought it was fine.

If they had smashed up the cafeteria or set fire to it then yeah thats criminal, but at the end of the day they were on the last days of their school life and everyone blows off a little steam.

Actually a food fight is an extremely anti-social activity. It has a very negative affect on people who don't necessarily want to be involved with it. Imagine a teacher getting an egg thrown at her or whatever. And then there's the clean up afterwards, and I can't imagine that things didn't end up getting smashed.

Whatever though, people didn't get arrested for throwing food, they got arrested for breaking the law e.g. this Oglesby character for resisting arrest. Blowing off a little steam is fine, breaking the law is not.

we had this at our university halls towards the end of term :p the people who didnt want to be involved just ate out of the way and no one targetted them. The rest just had to clear it up afterwards and everyone was fine! Thats how things should go down

What a miserable person you are.

"A prank is something that's funny and doesn't harm anything or anyone, but a food fight is entirely different -- a bad choice, bad judgment," said Principal John Glimco.

Really? That's where I've been going wrong.

Lol, how terribly awful that sounds! :p

Criminal charges is a joke. The kid simply ran because he was caught up in the moment, its not like he intentionally planned on the police man getting injured. I agree that there should be consequences, but now instead of it being a damn good story to tell people remember, and laugh about it is something that is going to haunt you for the rest of the your life - a criminal record. The principal of this school is the real joke.

Is it possible to get arrested for resisting arrest by itself :p

All right, if you clean up afterwards!

Would those kids in the story have cleaned up after themselves had the police not been called to restore order?

Surprising that so many people here are defending what is essentially chav behaviour
