I'm seething here.

I was in the process of registering a debit card to top up my mobile broadband. When I finished, £10 was taken off my card when I never authorised any payment. I simply registered my card and it said £10 has been added to your account. It has indeed come off my card and I'm not happy.

Is this usual practice from 3?

I've had 3 "surprise" direct debit my account before, an account they had previously said "no we can't use that one, you need a visa DEBIT card to use it".

What annoys me is that I only clicked on a link to 'register card'. There was no warning whatsoever.

I was in fact going to register £15 later on in the week. Not any more though.

I've emailed them about this.

It says on their website that on registering the card they will top up with 10£ to test your card or smth like that.. I was once caught by that myself.

It is in the big yellow box on top of the register a card:

Please enter all your available card details below.

When you register a new card we will take a payment of £10 and use this to immediately top-up your account.
