sorry its a bit long, but im soo angry and confused.
Ok, my previous setup was a athlon x2 + dfi lanparty + mushkin ddr, which i had nicely overclocked to 2.8. never had any issues, apart from now and again having to reset cmos if i tried to push it too far. it never died basically.
a month ago i thought, right its time for some intel conroe overclocking, sold all my old kit and forked out for:-
e6750
ocz 8500 reaper
gigabyte ga-p35c-ds3r
----existing kit----
ocz 600w gamestream
infinity cooler
all of my attempts to overclock have not gone well. on average i have managed to get:-
3.2gig 1.4v
~415fsb 1.5v nb
memory ~1200 5-5-5-15 2.4v
ran the same old tests orthos, and memtest 86 for over 5 hours on the overclock. very stable, temps good, below 50c. but then sometimes i would just leave the pc on overnight, and it would just be asleep in the morning, i had to power it off, then it would reboot 3 times until it had reset itself back to default. then would not accept any overclock for a few hours, then it would again, but still the same thing happened.
anyway, eventually the mobo would not revive itself, and even the cmos reset, taking out the battery and leaving for a day would not solve it.
i have swapped out all components to another machine, they all work fine, so i put it down the the mobo, so i bought another gigabyte ga-p35c-ds3r, and installed it, everything booted up fine (rma-ed other one). Then this one had a similar fate. !!!!!!!!!!!!! so i then purchased MSI p35 platinum, now after only one day this is not not booting, and will not reset itself!!
could it be possible the ram or cpu is responsable for these mobo deaths, i.e. drawing too much power or some kind of thing?? i now have no cash left and 3 dead mobos!!!! and obviously no working pc(apart from my laptop here)
anyone else got a clue what might be going wrong, and before you say it, ive not not put too much volts through these mobos, they have all been just above stock, or inline with online reviewers overclock attempts.
thanks for reading, looking forward to some useful comments.
