I already have XP Home SP2 installed on my system.I intend to install Vista Ultimate on a seperate SATA drive.
Will the vista installation recognise the Win XP and offer dual boot?
Will I be able to see data on the vista drive if I boot into XP?
Will the vista install still require a floppy containing m/board SATA drivers?

thanks for looking

Starty the vista install from XP. Generally if you dont need SATA drivers for XP then you wont with vista. You can see all drivers form each operating system and if you start setup from XP then it will sort a dual boot menu for you

Not quite right, start the install from booting off the DVD, choose your Sata drive for installation. When you next boot, you will have the boot menu (as long as the boot priority has not changed, I.E. drives) and be able to choose XP or Vista. You will be able to see XP files on Vista and vice versa. You may need to take ownership of XP's files if you need to delete or move them in Vista. Vista should not need a floppy as it contains many more Sata drivers than XP.

As said, just install vista normally, don't touch any xp settings or fiddle with the boot option. Vista will sort it out it's self.

You shouldn't need sata drivers.

Just boot of the dvd and away you go.
