I have used these with a few mates at LAN parties and I got to say they are a life saver when you need an internet connection at a venue with interwebz. Great piece of kit.

Sorry, what are these? Are they like the ****y dongles you get from mobile phone providers?
They are ;) http://www.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/MiFi

I used one of these with my iPad. Very light weight and small. Brilliant when the broadband goes down.
I bought mine months ago from 3 for £50.00 then so much per month. Now using a 3GB sim card which lasts for 3 months, bought one a couple of days ago for £6.80.

The battery is pretty good on them as well, 3 say up to 5hours. When I was visiting family a few weeks ago, I just left it plugged in on charge for hours, worked great :)

Dimensions: 86 x 46.5 x 10.5mm
Weight: 90g

£71.99 now on 3 website without a sim card with data usage on, so these are at a nice price!

These look fantastic, think I'll get one for me and a colleague for laptop and phone usage when away from home/office or when broadband is down!

Tempted. Can't say I actually need one, but it's the kind of product which activates the geek instinct in me.

Is there any difference between the two products above, apart from the amount of data preloaded? If not, you're paying £50 for 9GB of data? You can get a SIM with 3GB of credit preloaded for about £7...

It doesn't seem like it. Buying the first one then extra cards makes 1000* more sense!

And if anyone cares, of the top of my head these takes about 45seconds to boot up and connect

Are these things really worldwide? Looking to do a bit of travelling over the summer (as in, most of europe and all the way to mongolia, no points as to guessing why, see sig) and this would be kinda awesome to update the blog!

Well I put in my Virgin Mobile sim last week and found out the MiFi is locked so. You can obviously only use 3 SIM cards.

If you can use the card overseas I bet you would be charged and it wouldn't come out of the data usage which is on the SIM.

While I like the idea of this, I can't help but feel it's terribly undercut by sharing the internet connection from a mobile phone with a laptop. I already have internet wherever I go, as I have a phone in my pocket.

In fairness I don't know if my phone can share it's connection with several computers at once. However I'm pretty certain 7 can set up a laptops wifi card as an access point, and simultaneously use internet connection sharing with a phone.

So, I think it's a clever idea, but I don't understand where the market is.
