Ask for your PAC code - it will effectively cancel your contract within 7 working days once used (ie. port your number to PAYG or another provider)

No it wont as you still pay another 3o days line rental, yes this is normal practice both O2 and Vodafone require 30 days written notice for cancellation. If you ask for your PAC code then once it swaps over in lets say 7 days your contract is cancelled but you will receive one final bill for the last 30 days line rental.

Cheers, do you know which address i need to send letter to, is this 30 days effective from when they recieve letter, how will i know that my letter has been recieved and is been processed ?

As CPWS Vodafone have all been migrated to Vodafone Direct, I would imagine that you would need to send the letter to Vodafone Direct. Unfortunately, I don't know the actual address... but it's best to check with them again because sometimes they give you specific cancellation references etc.

The way to minimize any loss of money from the 30 day notice period is basically to give your PAC number to your new provider approx. 10 days before the actual 30 days is up, leaving a few days spare in case something goes wrong (a port usually takes 7 days).

That way, you use as much of the line rental that you've already paid for. Of course, it's perfectly feasible that it actually saves you money to ditch the line rental paid in advance to take advantage of a better offer, so it just depends on what works better for you really.

this is what may confuse the situation CPW moved all their managed vodafone customers to vodafone direct.

Best thing to do is to call them they'll give u the address and also send it my recorded delivery its a way some customers do it.

Definitely send it by Signed For - the first cancellation I sent, they claimed not to have received it until I told them I sent it by Signed For :o

It's normal practice to need 30 days notice - you're not "out of contract", your contract hasn't "expired", you've simply passed the minimum term of your contract - ie. you can cancel without penalty by giving 30 days notice.

Give 191 a quick call, its free to get the address, the address is to Banbury (which doesnt help much.. lol) You will have to pay 1 months more line rental, but thats part of the contract. A week after you send it phone up again or come into a vodafone store and ask to check if they have recieved the letter and a date of cut off been given.

Hi,

If you want to keep your number then you would need to request a PAC (Port Authorisation Code) from Vodafone. Once received this is valid for 30 days and needs to be passed on to your new provider in this time. If the code isn't used over this period it will expire but it's possible to request a new code at any time.

With a PAC your contract will cancel on the day it ports out of the network, so there's no need to send in a cancellation letter. Your PAC can be requested verbally by calling 191 from your handset.

If you wish to cancel the contract outright (and also the number) then Vodafone require written or faxed notice, including the following details:

1- Your billing address in full.
2- Your date of birth.
3- Your landline contact number.
4- Your payment method.
5- Your account and mobile number.
6- Your signature.

This can be sent either by fax to 08701616500 or by post to the following address:

Vodafone Ltd
PO Box 549
Banbury,
OX17 3ZJ.

If your contract is still within the commitment period you will be required to pay an early termination fee. If you send a letter and you're still in commitment you'll receive a shortfall back letter through the post advising of this termination fee. There's a contact number on this letter that you can then call to confirm if you accept the shortfall, then Vodafone will process your cancellation.

If you've got any other questions please let me know.
