Totally agree, which is just about the only thing really bad about now. The press are totally obsessed with sensationalist news and the public lap it up.

Oooh good old nostalgia isnt what it used to be

Load of complete claptrap. Arrested for headache pills? It's made up rubbish by people living in the past.

Nope, it's not. You can no longer take your own Tylenol/Aspirin/Advil/etc in to schools. It has to be dispensed by the school nurse. If you bring your own and take it, you can be expelled for it. And if you give it to another student, you can be charged for it. As in police called and hauled away charged. Same goes with girls and PMS pills. They need to be turned in to the office/nurse by the parents and the student needs to have them dispensed by the nurse. End of.

How do I know this? My son goes to school. And we were warned of exactly this before registering him.

Not blaming you directly mate, but people should stop buying into all this ****. Don't buy tabloid newspapers, don't watch reality TV crap, don't buy into celebrities magazines and their " POSH'S WORLD EXCLUSIVE HAIRCUT DRAMA" fronts.

Whenever another personal injury solicitation or IVA ad comes on, change the channel. Whenever some Z minus celeb release a book, don't even glance at it.
When the media realise people can't be entertained with sensationalist crap and actually need something intelligent and well researched, perhaps then they might rethink things. Until then, we're all stuck with organisms on TV with 2 brain cells that functions 3min a day.

Quoted for the truth. Thanks regulus, my thoughts precisely.

All a Bit OTT Daily Mail Rubbish imo, as for the rules regarding the bringing in of aspirin etc into the school, mine (as do all of the schools in my area- both private and public) afaik dont have a problem with it. While parental permission is needed to actually be given the drugs, your free to bring them in.

Ooh, I think Mickey owned you.

And just for the record my wife is a teacher and if she gave a headache pill out she could be arrested.

It didnt say that, it said simply bringing them into school would result in being arrested and having your car searched for weapons.

Sensationalist rubbish.

It's not 'so true' in the slightest, it's a collection of made up statements with little or no presence in actual real life. What kind of warped view of the world do you have?

At least in 1976 is was a lot harder for BS like this to be peddled around as fact.

Isn't Ritalin basically amphetamine...doubt you'd be a zombie!

Nope. Ritalin (methylphenidate) is a molecule or two different to methylphenidrate, better known as crystal meth.

And while you think that a molecule difference isn't much, consider that one molecule can mean the difference between the life sustaining substance called water (H2O) and rocket fuel (H2O2).

So no, ritalin is NOT meth....

Actually, it said:

2006 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car searched for drugs and weapons.

Which is a reality. Any time you are suspected of drug violations, your car IS searched for drugs and weapons.

[EDIT] And yes, just the posession in public shools of ANY over the counter medications WILL get you arrested for drug violations now. We were told and warned of this upon registering our child in public school. We were explicitly told DO NOT, under any circumstances, let our child bring even the most insignificant thing that can in any way be considered a drug to school. That includes Aspirin, Tylenol, etc.
