£300 to spend needs to be quiet

Hi guys, in the market for an new graphics card.

Just got rid of my 6970 because it was far to loud for me, I don't mind a bit of noice but could easily hear it spinning up with my headphones on.

I know I could have got a customer cooler for 6970 but I killed my gtx 470 attempting to fit a customer cooler so I didn't want to risk that again.

I have been looking at the customer cooled 570's or maybe even a custom cooled 6970 as I actually liked the card it was just to loud.

Any suggestions ???

Have you looked at the geforce 570 gtx phantom? It's supposed to be very quiet.

Yeah that what I was looking at, it is very nice looking card.

How does it compare to the Asus direct cu ii 570/6970 cards?

I think the direst cu with the triple slot cooler is quieter. TBH, it won't really be noticeable.
The phantom is pretty much as quiet as you are going to get

I bought one yersterday but its not being delivered till Saturday.

the 5850 im replacing is bloomin loud so hopefully will be quiter... if you get yours before mine report back or I will sometime saturday afternoon.
