I wonder if we'll see a 3080 TI FE in January, I'd be tempted to buy one for my second system.

I think depends on how 6900XT performs and its stock (which will be non-existent). Right now, the 3090 is here as plenty cannot wait for the 3080 and AMD hardly has any stock so the 3090 sells. However we can see stock of some SKU's are readily available, will be a point where those who willing to part with that much cash have one and stock of other cards start normaling. Then we will see a 3080Ti I suspect which will basically be the 3090 anyways with few less VRAM chips. I think personally the 3080 will be in short supply for months still. It seems Nvidia is capable of producing about 50% or even more dies that can go into the 3090 for GA102 cores so shows yields can't be awful. If that's the case, then why chuck money in the drain by putting in what is a 3090 core, locking it down into a 3080 when it could go into a 3080Ti which at say $999 will be in massive demand.

So yeah I think Nvidia have it in the wings, just waiting for stock on the others to normalise, for now reap those who cannot wait for a 3080 to grab a 3090.

For me the additional expense of a new case would be the cherry on the very daft decision cake.

I've got some bits/pieces that I've had lying about forever that I'm going to finally sell on the MM, pretty much a complete X99 system, my old Vega 64 AIO, 850W PSU, some Unifi gear etc. etc. probably bag me £600+, I've think I've come to terms with the spend already ;)

Sold a 1070 Zotac Mini and a Gen8 Microserver + discs this week, that's £550 of old stuff that just been gathering dust.

Suspect the 3090 will be discontinued early next year. The 3080ti will likely outperform it at a cheaper price, though will less VRAM. That leaves a super niche market that need 24GB for productivity. I suspect an Ampere Titan will shortly follow the 3080ti as well.

Happy with my MSI 3080 to tide my CX48 over while I wait for the 3080ti :D

Was the 3080 up? Stuck in bloody meeting again. Finding it hard to not press go on a 3090

Edit just read no 3080 FEs :(

The 3080s are clearly around on some level. There was a drop on a German site today of 3080FE cards (could've had one too if i'd had German, Dutch or Belgian address to ship to).

Does anyone else's 3090 FE sound like an angry bee at full fan speed? Or is mine dodgy?
According to the GN review, at maximum fan speed the 3090 FE clocks in at almost 60dBA. That's louder than even an R9 290X in Uber mode, so I'd say an angry bee is certainly reasonable.

The 3090 and 3080 are based on the same die so if Nvidia really wanted to, they can gimp the 3090 grade dies into 3080s... but they most likely won't do that this soon.

Possible they will reshuffle the pack - there is a fair gap between the 3070 and 3080 so wouldn't be surprised to see a 3070ti and 3080ti come along with the 3080 discontinued and priced just below and just above the current 3080 point.

Yeah, a 3070 Ti is pretty much nailed on IMO. The gap between the 3070 and 3080 is the biggest of the lot so far.
