330Ci Sport/M-Sport

Nothing its just that it will be increasingly difficult to find a nice one at that age.
You'll struggle now. I've been entertaining the idea of trading up my 325 to a 330ci for about a month on the proviso that I find one that ticks all my boxes (Coupe, Black/Grey/Blue, leather, Xenons, 04 or 05 on reasonable milage) and going for sensible money, which to me is below the £9k mark for, as you say, essentially a 10 year old car. Not a single one to be found within 150 miles of the South West! Definitely becoming a tricky car to get hold of now, at least in my neck of the woods.

Such a shame :( If it's hard now its going to be even harder by 2016/7 which is when I would be looking for one. Suppose the E92 will have come down significantly by then though ;)

You don't NEED a warranty on and E92 now alone in 2016. The BMW warranty on the E92 has become quite a bit more expensive in recent years whilst part prices have dropped and anyone can now code a car meaning repairs at a BMW dealer is not your only choice anymore (thank God).

Would you say they're reliable enough to run without?
How much is a fuel pump or an injector or a turbo or a cracked alloy these days...

Maybe the cost to sort this kinda stuff out isn't the extortion I imagine it to be? :)

Talking of warranties..tomorrow is the last day I can get the cheaper rate BMW warranty (will tick over 60k) so I've taken the plunge and gone for the Comprehensive warranty without Emergency Service.

Feels good to know she's covered for a year should anything to wrong.

Get it on direct debit/monthly and it'll be covered "forever" ?

I think that's how you are supposed to do it.

I have added this car to my shortlist too. Although i have found a 335i for under £10k !

But this E46 is nice too, 80miles from me.

Yes, M52, it was very high mileage, and I'd presumed it was a bit flat due to the miles covered and it being a bigger, heavier car than my previous M52 engined 328i.
Upon changing the sensors however it felt completely different to drive and no longer tired at all.

It was not noticeable - like a misfire for example - prior to changing the sensors, just felt a bit flat, easy to put down to the 260+k miles it had done, after,I was very surprised at how fresh the engine felt, almost like it had been completely overhauled!

Well worth doing if yours are suspect imo - although it could feel off for other reasons of course, I hope your experience is the same to mine!

Thanks for that. I've got a 328i with 138k and no history of having these sensors changed, and I have a bit of a lumpy idle that vibrates through the dash (not severe, but noticeable at traffic lights). It also feels a little flat at low revs sometimes; first and second gear will sometimes feel unresponsive at low speeds and "kangaroo" the car into action. This is not the usual bogging down felt if the engine is not given enough revs, as quite often it will pick up swiftly at the same road speed and gear. I'm guessing the camshaft sensor will have the biggest effect on these symptoms if any, although I suppose it's possible VANOS could be the culprit.

I know BMW sensors are often recommended, but I wonder if there are any decent 3rd party solutions.

My 528i was smooth on idle from what I recall, but certainly flat on take off.
Once into its stride - especially on the motorway - it felt absolutely fine though.

I had a noticeable vibration at low speeds that I wrongly assumed was the propshaft as this vanished after the sensor swap.

It was an auto, perhaps this masked the kangaroo effect you describe?

The symptoms certainly sound similar though... :)
