Tight budget, I know. But im after something that I can do some casual gaming on when im round at my mates. Im only going to be running things like WoW, some emulators, and some ancient games (like Dungeon Keeper)

I used to have an Acer Aspire 6935G a while ago, and I loved it. Would gladly buy another one if I can find one cheap enough, but if anyone has any recommendations of a decent laptop for this purpose, Im all ears :)

HP Mini 311c, can be had for sub £300 and has LE ION (can be changed to ION with new bios i think), decent cpu, supports up to 3gb ram.

Should be able to play WoW to a playable standard, but dont expect too much :)

Ironically enough, I've had one of those too :) My uncle has it downstairs. It's nice, but a little lacking in power. WoW runs ok, but I think for £350, I could get something with a bit more umph. Im not really looking for a netbook. I would idealy like something with a 15 inch screen, but im open to the 13 inch range too

ah i see :) well there is a thread that has 2 quite nice specced laptops, 15.6" and have dual core cpu with "i think decent" graphics.

Acer 8371 £350... Ideal

mhmm, have you got it yet? if so do you think its improved compared with your 311?

I've just got it today, not really had a chance to play games yet but it certainly seems much faster to use than my Mini 311 I would say that the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU is going to be much better than the Atom, the GPU the Ati 4330 is meant to be slightly better than the Ion in the HP Mini 311 so I reckon overall its going to be much better. build quality also seems outstanding but then it is really a business laptop.

i am now considering the 8371 over the hp 311, cheers :) seems good all round and with a 13.3 inch screen it looks to be a treat, got really good reviews as well :)
