3930K @ 4GHz - x40 AutoV?

okay, so while running xomplete stock and just changing bios to xmp, imc/vtt and dram volt it failed.

system would post but then bsod when loading windows.
issues like page faults and bad pool header etc.

HOWEVER!

i have gone back to manually entering ram settings. 9-9-9-24 and 1.6v

and then cpu vcore to 1.3 and a multiplier of 40. - yes i bet this is not ideal voltage but for now it works (62 degree tops on full load).

Now here is where it gets interesting....
With these settings I would be fine but under stress tests i would fail intel burn on the very high setting.

So i went back and thought ill chabge this setting called ram performance (this was set to normal) i switched it to extreme while still usinh my own dram settings and so far so good.

completed very high stress test and now currently doing the maximum test. I should note this is the furthest I have managed to get even with stock optimized bios defaults loaded.

Its all so baffeling to me!

oh and sorry for the awful spelling and grammar but im using the ocuk forum app and my thumbs are too big for this phone :)

Okay so it did fail on Maximum, but it went for longer than it ever has, so its a step in the right direction.

This is probably IMC volts. Use your PC as stress test, by mem test you know your not getting mad errors from your RAM so just use it. IBT tells you nothing pther than it can pass IBT. It may be totally stable for daily use such as gaming, editing etc etc.

Ah ok, so Just go back in and run a decent memtest on the ram?
What do IMC volts affect?

I have not had any BSODs etc so far.

I will run memtest as it is and post the resaults tonight. I'll also post up a list of all settings.

Thanks for your help thus far mate, really appreciate it!

IMC volts effect the memory controller which is onboard the CPU and controls the RAM. With this format the IMC is very complex quad channel and upto 8 sticks. The more sticks and volume the more pressure there is on the IMC. Chips differ wildly in terms of IMC.

This is still a memory issue then.

Did you try testing one stick at a time??? To isolate the problem??? If they all pass individually try 4 sticks get this stable then 8.

Also post up all the DRAM timings for me to look at.

i did test each last week and found and issue and sent them back - thats why i am just on 32gb and not 64gb.

How long should i test each stick individually for?

Hey buddy, here is my latest findings:

Now with the OC MemTest shows up errors.
Without the OC MemTest shows up errors, and more errors than when its OC or just XMP.

I am running MemTest86 with one stick installed and waiting for 2 passes and then moving onto the next stick.

MemTest is being run with no OC and only stock defaults.
Here are the results:

Stick 1 - Errors: 6
Stick 2 - Errors: 266
Stick 3 - Errors: 52
Stick 4 - Errors: 56

ALL errors happen during MemTest's 6th and 8th tests regardless of how many passes, most of the errors happen in the 6th test..

All sticks were tested in the same DIMM Slot.
I have checked Mobo DIMM's with other RAM and it passes with flying colours so Mobo is fine.

As you can see there is no pattern in the amount of errors per stick.
The addresses which the errors occur are also all different depending on which stick is installed.

I am guessing the settings are not being applied correctly by the board or yoou have a faulty board or CPU. Every single stick failing is so unusual.

What are all the second and third timings in Bios??? I have asked for this afew times now and need it to help further.
