You can get 3D TVs and displays that don't require glasses anyway, called autostereoscopic displays. They usually use lenticular lenses.

I'm not sure why tech companies are so bent on 3D so much, to be honest. Good quality full HD picture on all channels with surround sound would be improvement enough for the time being, who wants unsharp, blurry picture with halos and headache inducing eye shutters to watch Kelis video or Wayne Rooney not scoring any goals?
