3G/4G routers, what are the benefits?

I have just the bog standard netgear router supplied with virgin media broadband. What are the benefits of 3G and 4G and is it worth upgrading considering I play games online a lot. thanks

3G / 4G routers allow you to connect over 3G/HSDPA and beyond, rather than tying you down to an fixed line.

Speed is highly variable dependant on signal & pings can be all over the place - not a good place to be if you are a gamer.

Comparing apples and oranges.

Stick to a "normal" Netgear router if you have cable.

3G routers are for mobile broadband services. It sounds like you have fixed line broadband so a 3G router would be of no use to you. what you're already using is far quicker that 3G. 3G as home broadband is just for us poor sods who can't get Phone line or cable broadband.

yeah, i just was unsure about 3G and 4G i thought it was an update in router technology, i didnt know that its designed for mobile internet... oh well somethin new learned thanks
