I am in the process of building at the moment and will be installing XP on my machine. I have 4 x 1GB of ram although i know that XP will only recognise 3GB. Will this create any problems in running or speed of the ram, or would i be better installing 2 x 1GB and then put 2 x 512 in the other matching slots.

4 x 1gb will not create any more problems than 2 x 1gb & 2 x 512mb.

XP can recognise anything upto 3.5gb, tho it depends on factors such as the amount of memory on your graphics card. The average available is around 3.25gb.

I'd definately stick with your current 4 x 1gb.

yeah use the 4x1GB you have if you can.

although remember if OC'ing using 4 slots can put excessive strain on your NB which could cause system reliability issues.
If this does occur, get 2 x 2GB.:)
