That actually worked!? I only suggested it as a joke. lol

I had actually already done it before you said it but yes it worked. I had to water down the solution so it looked more soaked in than hardened on. Also I think I buggered the dock up doing it as it told me this accessory will not work with this device even though nothing was plugged in. I guess the stuck jack in the port was masking this.
He gave the dock a proper long look with his tool! I thought (Im screwed)
but he gave me a new one lol

watchdog did a massive feature on it and argued the case for a few people
