Can a 1500/256 ADSL connection use 4,755 Mb in a day? Just seems an awful lot to me and this includes 2072 Mb upload. Have to admit to not knowing a great deal about connectivity but still...

Well to cut a long story short, my provider capped me and it now runs at 64k. I am of the thinking that the figures I gave are wrong and almost impossible to attain but 'theoretical maximum' tells me otherwise. I am not the only one who has experienced problems with our providers usage monitor figures.

I was hoping to point out to the support staff that this MUST be an error and hope they remove the cap but it looks like I won't have any worthwhile 'ammunition'.

Thanks for the responses.

ok, what about whats connected to the net?

A file sharing program was obviously connected but given the connection is only 256 upload, it's still high but apparently possible so I can't really complain. I reckon if anyone can get that kind of performance out of such a feeble upload connection, they'ed be well chuffed. In this case it's worked against me......or rather the au pair who is now barred from using my computer.

Well, a 256kbps upload can shift around 100MB per hour, so in theory you're able to upload 2.4GB in a 24 hour period. That leaves 2.35GB for download which is pretty easy to do.
