4 gig showing as 3582 in vista?

Hey all,

Just uped to 4 gigs (4x1) and its only showing 3582 in vista. Its showing the full whack in bios and at post.

Ram is g.skill 6400 c4 stuff. Am running at the moment at 5-5-5-15 at 800. Howver normally run it at 4-4-4-12 as thats what its rated to (same thin happens at those speeds in vista). Voltage is at 2v the reccomended i believe.

Is there something in Vista i need to do to see the full whack.

x86 or x64 Vista?

A x86 operating system can't use the full 4gb.

If you're running vista 32 bit it won't show up, same as any other 32 bit operating system. They can only see 3.2gb of memory.

You need a 64bit operating system to be able to use the full 4 gig.

Infact if you are on 32 bit vista, that fact that it's seeing 3.5 is an achievement anyway

which version of vista are you running, 32bit or 64 bit, if youre on a 32 bit version of vista it wont recognise all 4gb

It's a pain unless you get vista for free like i do from my uni lol

Same as mine here, only showing 3581Mb. Better than 3.2 tho
