got a new mobo today and give it a quick look over , the cpu power only has 4 pins. Will it be ok to put a 6-pin connecter on with 2 being un-used ?
Most CPU power connections are either 4 or 8.
What PSU are you using?
6pin? that sounds like a PCI-E power connector for a GFX card.
You should have either 4pin or 8pin ATX (and yes you can hang pins of those of the side of the connector and use just the 4)
But also dont mistake 8pin PCI-E for gfx card as 8pin ATX either.
Also some 8pin ATX are made up by putting a 4+4 together.
Dunno, what are all the parts you have?

the mobo 24 pin / the gpu pci-e and the mobo 4pin/8pin all use the same crimps or pins as you are calling them.
Ahh , so thats what the term is. Its my first go at doing this incase you couldnt tell.
The pins, or crimps you want are atx as per your photo.
The plastic housings for them are specific to what they connect to, they have slightly different shapes to prevent plugging into the wrong places.
You would want a 4 pin ATX/EPS plastic housing like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shakmods-...513076?hash=item2ed21b7f74:g:EaQAAMXQtUxTegzv
The thing your talking about has been on my mind. Im going to use a 6 pin connecter but only wire it as if its a 4 pin. Unless i have a 4 pin somewhere among the boxes.
