Two of them in RAID 0 earlier today:

Straight into my motherboard mate. As per sig.

Just because it's integrated onto the motherboad, doesn't mean that it's not actually still going through e.g. the PCI bus.

That graph leads me to suspect that that controller is bottlenecking on the PCI bus, however someone actually more knowledgeable with the Nvidia raid controller can probably confirm/deny whether it is on the PCI,PCI-E or system bus.

The Nvidia controller is integrated into the northbridge, the available bandwidth is in the gigabyte per second range.

Is write cache enabled? :)
Do that then run a long bench in HDTach.

Right I managed to knacker one of the SATA ports on one of the drives so I'm down to three, but it's still wrong. I'm not sure why, latest drivers, write cache disabled etc. When I install either Vista or XP, even without any drives plugged in, somethings not right. Not sure what but something isn't...

I get similar results from a 2 drive setup on 680i based asus, looks like its an nvidia issue, intel boards are getting much better results. Im thinking of scraping any nvidia based motherboard at the moment and basicaly go back to an intel chipset.

You know currently 680i chipsets have problems with many fast HDD's and fast RAM.

It will say Raid access failour when I run my ram at 1066Mhz. I guess its the same with the fast HDD's. Wait a bit for a better Bios update and Nvidia drivers

its allready a year old, that is long enough IMO.
Maybe try a PCI-E H/W RAID card?

Well I got myself O&O defrag and the drives are in a pretty bad state of fragmentation. Should be finished soon.

I also used lifeguard tools and no errors found. As for write cache, I'm not going to disable it as it's good for Windows, plus it shouldn't hinder my score that much.

I'm not really interested in redundancy as it's only the OS and games that go on the drive. Everything important will be backed up onto another drive.

Anyway, I'm still getting poor rates, even slower now then the ones in the screenshot.

Bit off topic here mate but you have 4 Raptors, I have one and is making some serious grinding noises what is it like with 4?
