Hi all.

I currently have a Toshiba 36ZP18P (lovely CRT), an SD Freeview box and a classic Xbox for playing streamed content from my PC (wireless link). Sound wise I have a small sony DD3/2 / DTS AV setup that is linked to freeview box and Xbox via TOSLINK.

We are looking at moving soon, and I think it'd be a good time to pass the CRT onto someone else and upgrade my setup.

Have been looking around and spotted a few decent looking screens in my price range;

Sony BRAVIA KDL40BX400 ~ £400
Samsung LE40C580 ~ £450

I've only been looking at LCD, and I'm not sure why. Are there vast pro/con differences between the two technologies still?

I'm quite out of the loop with what is considered 'good' with regards to the specs on modern screens. So would love some feedback on those two and would welcome any suggestions of others to consider.

I am also looking to replace the xbox, it cannot handle HD content; not an issue with my current screen - but will be with the new one. I have just bought a new phone and noticed it has DLNA listed on it's specs. Can I make use of that? What does the actual decoding with DLNA?

I've seen the Apple TV mentioned, is that worth looking at?
