£400 .. to Spend , AMD or INTEL For Performance ?

Right i got £400 to spend on upgrades ....

All i need is a New motherboard and DDR 3 & Processsor

£400 to spend . Who will give me the best Performance for this Budget ? AMD or INTEL ......

WHAT OVERCLOCKING DEAL SHOULD I GO WITH SO I CAN PLAY GAMES LIKE THE NEW BF2 WITH EASE...............THANKS X

i also have ahd this delima. I have about £360 to spend and at first i dismissed AMD and went Intel. This got me a nice i3 dual core like this

Then someone told me to try AM3 as i can get a cheaper mothberboard and get a much faster Quad core CPU so now im ordering this

If you have £400 and only need CPU Ram and mobo then possibly an intel i5 would be a good choice. It is slighlty faster in benchmarks but in the real world probably not much difference between an i5 and the AMD 965

Lol depends on what your doing really...
Amd = exceed intel on gaming
Intel = Good at everything but far exceeds amd on graphics proccesing.

For memeory go for Kingston or Corsair..
Mobo, *shrugs* get an SLI/Xfire mobo with 4+ channels for memory and 6 channel built in audio. Asus are good cheap mobo.

Intel i5 seems to be the best bang for buck on the middle/top end of the market so I'd suggest something like below

With a £400 budget I would definitely be looking at Intel if you are happy to overclock.
Should get you an i5-750, P55 mobo, and 4GB PC3-1600.

At stock a Phenom II x4 might be worth considering.
