£40k Civic?

just by adding up the extras it comes to.......
£46921.53

So that's not including the cost of the car? Surely that makes it ~£60k on a CIVIC?!?

That's ridiculous. I can think of so many better second hand cars to spend that kind of money on. He can do what he likes to it but it will always remain a Honda Civic. And while I don't think there's much wrong with a Civic you certainly wouldn't spend nearly £50,000 on one.

I'd be straight down to Nissan to buy a GTR with that kind of money.

I did

THE PISTONHEAD LINK GOES TO A THREAD WITH MUGEN CIVIC TYPE R, DO YOU UNDERSTAND? :p

That'll teach me for not reading everything fully, I read the PH link as that's what someone had spent on their Civic, not that's what it'd take to spec one up to the Mugens level :p

AAHHH!! £40K+ for a Civic DOES NOT COMPUTE!!

You could have BOTH of its main adversaries - the FRS and the R26R for the same cost. Granted they'd have a couple of Ks on the clock, but I know what I'd do.

If that guy's buying one for his 'collection' or whatever, fine. But otherwise - he's crazy IMO.

It's not exactly a value buy for the mass market is it. It's for rarity and Mugen prestige which to some people - is worth it.

Is it expensive for what it is? To most of us yes. Why compare it to what you could get though, such a pointless endeavour. It's clearly not been introduced to compete with them, or anything at all really.

Ah, but to Mr everday motoring enthusiast, it DOES compete with these aforementioned cars whether it/Mugen/Honda likes it or not. That's why I personally cannot get my head around it. To me it's an unwarranted scene tax on a ridiculous scale.

I reckon I could get at least another £10K for an FRS with spoon socks and radiator cap fitted on. Maybe.... :p

Mr everyday enthusiast would never buy one, so never needs to "get it".

It's like fashion. You can spend 10 grand on a watch that effectively does the same as a 300 pound one. It's brand name premium or "scene tax". I'm not sure what is so hard to grasp about that. It exists in every market to some extent or another.

It's been introduced to launch Mugen in Eurpoe, except instead of blowing onto the scene with a Civic that mullers the R26R and the Focus RS they've just stuck some tat on it and upped the power. They've gone about it all wrong, as usual.

Except it does "muller" them in every way.

It's a brilliant car at what it does, if they could sell it for the same price as the R26R it'd be game over for the Megane. But they can't. So it isn't. :p

Fair enough if we were talking about Ferrari etc, but this is a civic when it comes down to it

I think can you pick up a genuine mugen kit for around £5-£6k, can't remember who is selling them.

I would pay £40k for a white Skyline GTR but not a silly civic.
