40th anniversary minute of silence for slain Israeli athletes refused at London 2012

I think you mean "waving"?

I notice that under pressure from the Australian born Israeli Propaganda Supremo (previously known as Mark Freiberg and now known as Mark Regev), the cowardly BBC have started describing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, despite the fact that it isn't

Last I looked, Jerusalem was the capital of Israel. Did Jordan, Egypt or Syria attack again and win Jerusalem over in the last 24 hours that I am not aware of?

And try not to hijack a thread on a completely different topic with your usual diatribe. This is about Olympians.

6-7 athletes have died competing in the Olympics why don't we hold a minutes silence for those? why are Israeli deaths always the ones we need to highlight? was forcing our footballers to go to Auschwitz before the Euro's and the massive publicity campaign that came with it not enough?

They have. Most recently Nodar Kumaritashvili in Canada 2010 Winter Olympics at the Opening Ceremony.

What connection does Munich have to London, that was not in place in any of the other Olympic cities since 1972?

Nothing Castiel and that is the point. It has not taken place in the nine previous Olympic Games held over 36 years and if not now then when? It should have happened before and it is disgraceful that it hasn't.

It is not the place or time to hold such a memorial, if the Games were being held in Munich then maybe their is some point, but Rogge is right. This is not it.

The Olympics should be just that, the Olympics, completely detached from any external influence and serve nothing else.

A minute of silence for this, some statement for that etc. etc. and you'll end up politicising them. Either you do it for all or for no one.

As I answered they have done this before either for events that have nothing to do with Olympics or for other Olympians who died whilst competing in the Games.

Besides, by not keeping a minute of silencing it doesn't mean that they condone or approve of what happened. It's not a binary thing. Also, the statement that by doing it they would show that such things cannot happen again, what rubbish! It happened because someone was determined to kill people, it can and will happen again regardless what we say/show/do.

I am not suggesting that they are condoning or approving of the attack. Of course it can happen again but does that mean that we should never show a mark of respect for, lets say, the victims of 7/7 right here in London because it can happen again?

Did British Fans not have a minute silence or applause for Fabrice Muamba who luckily pulled through? Or for George Best? Should I go on?

Israel is rubbish.

Again, like I said to Stockhausen, keep your unsurprisingly off topic diatribe to yourself unless you have something on topic to add. That being said, by praying for some filthy rodent like creature to get numerous painfully deep, painfully wide and painfully crusty rectal fissures I have also gone off topic so we are about even.

The Olympic is supposed to be apolitical, and so any politicisation of it would be inappropriate...this unfortunately means not holding memorials for those killed due to political reasons.

What happened in 1972 was despicable and wrong, but the Olympics is not the place to point that out.

I mostly feel sorry for the German killed in the attack. Poor bloke was just doing his job and got caught up in the retarded jew/Palestinian **** thats still going on today.

Should we have a minute of silence for the men on the USS liberty?

Should we have a minute of silence for the people that were probably killed due to the Israeli espionage of the US?

Should we have a minute of silence for the ethnic cleansing that is still going on in Palestine?

You know some day this society will be silent forever, if every killed person had to be honoured. :o

Should we have a minute of silence for the ethnic cleansing that is still going on in Pink or Magenta as requested.

I will again point to the fact that we are talking about Olympians. Is it really such a hard concept to grasp or is it actually the fact that because they were damn murdering Israelis it doesn't matter. That is the conclusion I am starting to get here from the comments made here. Dead Georgians Olympians get a moment of silence, victims of the 9/11 terrorist get acknowledgment and Bosnian's get acknowledgment but murdered Olympians who are Israeli don't get a mark of respect.

The obvious question is whether those murdered athletes and the German policeman were taking part in some sort of military mission or competing as sportspeople and upholding the values that the Olympics is supposed to stand for. The twin stench of double standards and hypocrisy fills the air.
