40th anniversary minute of silence for slain Israeli athletes refused at London 2012

What if 11 Turkish athletes were murdered by the Syrian team, or if the North Koreans blew up the South Korean apartments or something similar?

But do you want it remembered in 40 years time?
I was 14 at the time of the incident and remember it very well, it was 'remembered' then.
How long do you keep the 'remembering' for - for the 60th, 80th, 100th .....1000th?
What's the point?

To have something to moan about. ;)

Sporting is about sport. I hope it stays that way.

I was disappointed with the silence on account of WW2 tbh... that makes the Olympics political in itself.

It's not political to mourn the deaths of all people during a dark period in global history.

It is political to mourn Israeli deaths in a conflict that is still ongoing.
