Thats outrageous right? not sure what this seller is smoking

but in order to prove him wrong i need to provide an alternative service and i was wondering what you guys use (UPS, fedex etc) to get items from USA to here?

i would expect to get a couple of kilos sent here for that money

nope, to send 1kg to america is £40 ($80) with royal mail. It was the last time i looked.

edit: just looked it up, £25 ($50) to send a 1kg package to america

oh wait! you said 50g not 500g, then yes, thats ludicrous

I'd probably use standard Airmail from the Post Office to send a 50g packet to the USA. Can't he do the same?

He also said from USA to the UK. ;)

just realised you said $42 that's about £21-22 so that's not bad. But still for taht weight, I'm assuming it must be letter sized, in which case you should be able to get it cheaper. If it's not letter size then it can get costly.

Size tends to have a lot to do with price. weight on an aircraft isn't as important as space.

But just get his zip code and do some quotes on ups, dhl, etc.

Well I've bought loads of DVDs from the US on ebay, they weigh about 70g or so and I don't think I've ever paid more than $15.

It would cost about £6 to send a 50g packet to the US using Airsure.

For a 2oz package by USPS...

Express Mail® International 5 Days $25.00
Priority Mail® International 6 - 10 Days $20.00
Priority Mail® Flat Rate Box 6 - 10 Days $37.00
First-Class Mail® International Varies $1.80

Depends, if the minimum banding is 500g then it doesn't matter if the item weighs 5 or 500 the charge will be the same.
