I currently have the following system:

Mainboard : Abit IP35-E (Intel P35+ICH9/R)
Chipset : Intel P31/P35
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 @ 2500MHz
Physical Memory : 4096MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series (256 or 512mb)
Hard Disk : Hitachi HDP725025GLA380 ATA Device (250GB) IDE
Hard Disk : Western Digital WD1600JB-00GVA0 ATA Device (160GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG IDE
CD-Rom Drive : DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
Monitor Type : Samsung SyncMaster - 22 inches

Sapphire 430W psu (a decent one but I'm a tad hesitant, this is mainly whats stopping me upgrading as everything adds up when I include new psu/gfx/chip/mobo/ram)

My question:

I am looking to upgrade to i5 etc soon but will a graphics upgrade from the 4670 to 560ti or there abouts be enough of a difference for me to enjoy Skyrim in the meantime before upgrading in a couple of months? My monitor is 1680x1050.

I'm afraid that "Sapphire" PSU is not the well-known Sapphire brand that we all know, but is just the "codename" of the PSU of that "Global Win" brand, so it is probably just some generic crap.

Either way, according to their own spec, the SAF450 would only deliver 264W over the 12v rail, so you could forget about getting a gaming graphic card, unless it bus-powered, or at most require no more than a single PCI-E 6pin for additional power...but that is VERY pushing it.

Your CPU would be a bottleneck anyway, so no point upgrading to a GTX560Ti, as your CPU would most likely will make it no faster than a GTS250/4850 (and lets not forget your PSU won't be good enough in the first place).

PSU upgrade is the highest priority, before everything else.

Thanks Marine-RX179 - appreciate the quick reply, I'll take your advice and invest in a decent PSU that will still be able to be used come i5 time.
