4670k + 2080/1080ti

Is it a bad idea putting a 4670k with a 2080/1080ti?

Not sure whether to hold off upgrading my processor/mobo and just invest in a card for now?

Basically it seems there might be advantages to having more threads if you intend to run RTX.

What card do you have now?? If you are quick GTX1080TI cards can be had for around £600,but GTX1080 cards are well under £500 now.

I have the same cpu and would have used it with anything out there because it is fine and the same old malarky is that some games matter.

Yea maybe like one or two games matter. Maybe none matter if you play at 4k? Everytime they test this its the same conclusion its minimal. The 2080 is not even powerful anyways.

Bottleneck heaven.
A quad core with no HT will not get the best from either of those cards.

Depending on what you've got now, it's likely still worth getting one.

Whilst in some games you might be bottlenecked in certain situations, its still likely to be a big boost depending on what you're coming from.

Upgrade the processor and motherboard later e.g to core 9xxx or next Ryzen.
