4800 cats 8.10 rc2

hi all
any one having probs with ati 4870 cards i.e the dreaded loop of black screens /fans spinning while trying to play a game or even use windows.....the problem lays with your mobo bios...not ati's drivers.
i had the same prob as some other people on this forum and the only thing i overlooked was the mobo bios on my DS5 x38 (blonde moment).
as soon as the mobo bios was updated from old / corrupt 1 ...my Sapphire 4870 was 100% stable

back on topic i wonder what 8.10's will bring to the table...
not bad for a 1st post..i also posted this on XS forums.:)

Firstly id like to say, wow bloody brilliant drivers ati, well done :D

Secondly, heres a screenshot of the brilliant fan control (27% fan is the default for the 4870x2)


Thirdly, id like to say congratulations ati with that bloody brilliant cooler on the 4870x2, its 100% silent up to 30% fan, and well... look at the core tempurature, even the air coming out of the wind tounel / exhaust is coolish air. who ever said that big powerfull cards are hot? oh and btw my room temp is 18c right now.

Fourthly great 2d/3d clocks, iv got my 2D set at 300/400 for both cores which runs the card super cool, and in 3D at stock 3d speed (750/900)

its a single 512
when i install these and go to ccc and graphics software its still showing cat version 8.8 ? and wrong drivers 8.522 ?
every time
ive uninstalled and driver sweeped
but no fan control and wrong version drivers even tho they are the right ones ???
any ideas ?

Dude, your going to need a monitor with a bigger resolution soon to fit all those shortcuts on your desktop. WOW! lol

ive sorted it now, didnt extract the files correctly

iv actually ran out of hard drive space, used up my 500gb hdd, so i cant install any more stuff, only got about 20gb left :p

but i have a 80gig split into 2 partitions one for xp and one for vista with no programs installed on too so that my 500gb of crap dont slow windows down lol
