Seriously considering the X1800XT instead of a 7900GT, mainly because its a lot lot cheaper but performs the same.

Will my enermax 485w be ok to power it? It currently powers the spec in my sig with no problems

My 1800XT works with no problems on my 350W psu. I have a 3700+, 4 x 512 MB, 2 x SATA 200GB, 2 x DVD RW, X-Fi.

Lol, I have a Hiper R type modular 580Watt for my punny AMD64 3000+, 4x512mb Ram, X800GT, and 2 hddrives :) .

Oh, not to mention my 7 case fans (4 80mm and 3 120mm :p ).

I kept getting "low power" warning on my 6600GT AGP card, so I went overkill.

But listen to the guys above me, they know more than me ;) .

Just got mine... its a god deal bigger then anything i've used before.

I guess it's a good 1/2 extra over the length of my old 6600gt, and about the same height.

Probably the exact same length as a 7800gt/7900gt

It weighs a ton btw.

I'm using an Akasa Paxpower 2 460w PSU with mine, runs just fine. :) The X1800XT and 7900GT are the same length, more or less, as far as I know but the X1800XT weighs more due to a chunkier HSF (not like weight matters.)

thats due to the huge chunk of semi solid copper on the chip :D

and for the books, my pentium 4 server's tagan 330w can power my x1900xtx along with a dual core system (i use a tagan 580w though)

if anything, this thread shows that unless your going for SLI / crossfire, high wattage psu`s are just not needed.

2X120mm fans
A3000+ clocked to 2.5Ghz
X1800XT 512 crossfire master card
2X opticle drives
4 usb devices
4 ddr sticks

psu = akasa 400 Watt :)
