Not sure why but a lot games just do not seem to be peforming well.

Fear 1 in game test towards the end when the barrels blows up drops to 30-20 fps.

Call of duty waw seems to drop into the 40's a lot when fighting all maxed out on 1600x1200.

Oblivion doest not scale that well either drops to 30 and 40s?

Even with v sync off they games have issues what the hell it going on?

Psu is 600 watt cooler master that should be fine and rest of spec is in sig.

not sure if i am getting a bottleneck of some kind?

CPU overclocked would probably help a fair bit. 600W Coolermaster PSU...I'd hazard a guess that the PSU wasn't quite up to spec either, though i'm running my single 4870 on an old 480W Antec just fine.

Would be nice to know why its not getting good fps.

In gpu z it says both gpu are enabled.

Could it be my monitor? its a 10 year old 21 inch at 1600x1200?

I am buying a new lcd monitor soon at 1920x1080.

I have just clocked my cpu to 3.6 that seems to be the higest i can get it so gonna see if it has made any difference.

oc the cpu has not made any difference to fps.

Hmmm probably a stupid question, but you have fitted the card in the top PCI-e slot on your motherboard right?

Another thing to check, is the card switching to it's 3D clocks or is it stuck using 2D clocks?

I have only one pcie slot so ye it is in the top one.

I checked while i was in game and clocks go to 3d.

I put cod 5 on with vsync off and it ran better getting around 90fps in some area's not sure if that is good for a 4870 x2 the card just seems to be rubbish with vsync on.

maybe its because of my 10 year old monitor.

It's really nothing to do with your monitor - it's impossible.

(aside from the resolution differences - higher res = less FPS...but your card should eat that resolution alive)

I'd be tempted to say do a fresh install of all your drivers..or even Windows. Make sure you have the latest versions of each.

It could be actually, if the games are running with VSync on and his ancient monitor has something stupid like a 40Hz refresh rate, he'll only get 40FPS when the card should be chucking out double that.

Ok scratch that - It now has nothing to do with your monitor :p
