4gb iphones now $300 in America

The phones been out in the US for a while now so theres a lot of reviews out there, most of them being negative. Anyone that have some knowledge into mobile technology knows the iphone is 'technically' inferior to some phones on the market, it's Apple's marketing frenzy is what drove sales.

anyway, i just realised - the $300 is not a sim-free price in the US...you would still need a 24 month contract...

That is in fact the sim-free price, Apple wont let carriers subsidise their handset and forcing them to sell it at full price which is aload of tosh if you ask me.

Come on - The reviews arent mostly negative at all - the vast majority of very positive, of course there are negatives like most phones do. If only other mobile phone companies had a decent GUI/OS like the apple has, the world would be a better place (together with more of an open system). What is great about the iphone is, it will force the big players to get their acts together and make better looking and better running phones (ie the iphones strength) combined with decent specs which I am sure they will do.

The iphone 3g with say 16gb memory might change a few peoples minds..;)

is it my imagination, or do they appear to have dropped the 4GB model, with the 8GB now being $399?

It seems like EU's version of the iphone wont have 3g after all, after reading the article on engadget about O2 (UK's iphone carrier) are rapidly increasing their EDGE coverage throughout the upcoming weeks. I personally can only see 1 reason why O2 would do this.

I suppose this is a good and bad thing. Good being iphone owners in the UK can still enjoy faster than GPRS browsing on their phone and the bad being its not as fast 3G.

This is of course just speculation so dont hurt me ;)
