As the title says,

Is it worth getting 4 Gigs as I am getting Vista 64 Ultimate next week. Thinking another 2 Gigs of Anniversary could be the way to go?
Will it been needed in next gen games like Crysis etc?

As has always been the case - Windows will make use of as much memory as you throw at it.
Do you need >2GB?
I run 4GB in my main machine, however that is only because I got an insane price on that amount of memory a few months back.
2GB is still certainly enough, even for Ultimate 64Bit and I'd only consider the 4GB if:

Insane memory prices
No other upgrades you want to do and...
...the money was burning a hole in your pocket :)

Yeah,

suppose you're right - I'm sure my current 2 Gig is suffient really...even for Crysis when that comes out. I suppose I could just spend the £££ on getting a DX10 card when more have been released - Would that be a better plan? When are the DX10 ATI cards comming out?

I have been reading a lot of vista reviews and it looks like 2GB is the sweet spot for Vista if you are not a power user that runs multiple large programs at the same time.
If you run XP with 2GB and regulary use all of that 2GB you might want to consider getting 3GB or 4GB

Brilliant article, well-posted  . To be honest, I'll be waiting for sp1 despite myself.

My thoughts exactly! :)

On the 4GB question, I'm also considering upgrading to 4GB at the moment. Wanting it for high end gaming, multi-tasking and just general usage. Difficult to decide whether you would benefit much from it or not.
