4K Res on a 28" Monitor

Hello,

I'm looking to replace my current work monitor which is a 22" @ 1920x1080 Resolution.

I'm looking for something bigger so i can see the whole of my rostering system, and i'm looking at potentially getting this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

1 x BenQ EL2870U 28" 3840x2160 4K TN 60Hz FreeSync Widescreen LED Monitor - Black= £249.95

Total: £261.05 (includes shipping: £11.10)

My home monitor has a resolution of 2560x1440 and its perfect for what i'm doing, but i'm wondering if this 4k one above will be better. Would it look funny do ya think cos more pixels in a smaller space ?

Or would this be better cos its a bigger screen cpmpared to the 22"

Personally I wouldn't go 4k on a 28" - it's too small. I'm a 32" and need 125% font scaling on the desktop to make it usable. On a 28" you'd need 150%, which is equivalent to 1440p in desktop apps.

I think you'd also struggle in games and might have to drop the res a bit to feel more comfortable.

So I'd say the options are 27" 1440p or 32" 4k. If you do go 32", the ew3270u is very good value for money.

There won't be any gaming, so thats not an issue. Its just a desktop monitor for my work pc, and i only send e-mails and do some rostering. This 22" isn't big enough for me to see all my clients & staff at the same time. But my 27" 2560x1440 is perfect.

Stick with the 1440p in that case. If you run 4k at native on a 27", you won't see them either!

I have a 4K 27" monitor and Windows' scaling is not a problem. You will notice that the text looks a lot nicer, but that's it. But for your use case you might be better off with a 32" 4k monitor or a 34" ultrawide or a 49" megawide monitor.
