Are there any 4k Ultrawide Gsync 120Hz+ monitors planned? It's the only screen that I would swap my X34a for, so just wondering what's in the pipeline?

I believe the recently released DisplayPort 1.4 is only capable of 120hz at normal 4K. You would need to drop the refresh rate of a 4K ultrawide to below 120hz to stay within the bandwith limits of the cable to compensate for the extra pixels.
So a little bit away yet, then. Will keep my eyes peeled.

The closest currently planned are IPS panels with 3440 x 1440 res and a native 144Hz refresh rate, and VA panels of the same res but up to 200Hz refresh rate. No word on actual monitors planned yet but the panel production is in road maps

Yea, I'm going to skip them as they don't offer enough over the X34a to justify the upgrade.
Yep, gonna hold on to the ROG PG348Q for a while myself I expect. OLED 4K ultrawide with 120+ refresh rate.. One can dream

Ive never known the monitor world to be so slow at new tech.
5120x2160 100+Hz 40" UW I suspect wont even be seen until 2020 and mainstream and affordable will be a few years after that.
Wont matter anyway as there wont be a card that can run at 5120 x 2160 at 100+ min until then anyway. we still dont have a 60fps 4k card yet.

The 1080 and Titan X are perfectly decent 4K cards.
Yes indeed! People seem to forget that the so-called 'modern' X34 and PG348Q are using pretty ancient panels (in tech terms anyway), basically the same native 60Hz LG panel that LG used way back with the first 21:9 monitor, that's been overclocked to 100Hz. As mentioned, there are faster panels on the roadmap so we know they will come eventually, but it's probably a year before they actually become available... and probably longer still before we see a G-Sync equivalent. Anyone expecting a 5120x2160 100+Hz 40" panel or OLED is absolutely kidding themselves... 2020 is probably right at the rate monitor tech crawls along on its hands and knees!
decent yes, but cant run at 60 fps minimum yet at 4k.
never mind "5k" Ultrawide screens at 100fps+
You are basically looking at maybe 2019 cards for that and thats highend.

And a number of vendor reps have dropped hints about DP 1.4 monitors.
Well make up your mind. People are asking for 120hz+ monitors with g sync and you are telling me that its fine to run below 60 fps so why are people wanting 120hz+ screens then? Who is going to buy these screens, even if they could, and run them at less than 30 fps with the current gpus?
There already are 60Hz monitors with g sync available now.
And yes vendors drop hints, new panels come out etc etc.
You do realise that normally it can be over a year after something is mentioned in the monitor world by the manufacturers before you then see the monitor at a show and then its another 6 months before you can buy one?
So unless a panel manufacturer announced a 5k wide screen 100Hz panel today, you will never be able to buy one before 2018 at the earliest and I haven't seen a whisper than any panel maker is about the announce one yet.
