4pin to 8 pin

i am upgrading my system soon, can any1 advise if using

is a safe way to power an unlocked amd 550 on a Amd 870 mobo?(not goin x-fire)

Depends on the psu but you know you can just plug your 4 pin connector form the psu into half of the 8 pin connector on the board?

As above, you can just use the 4 pin connector, it will only fit into one half, so just plug it in. But it may be worth upgrading the PSU. How old is it, and what model (did it come free with the case?).

sry bout he sig, corrected now, the psu is approx 2 years old, came with my centurion 590 case. the outputs are 22+25amps on the 3+5v rails, and 18+18 on the 12v rails. it also says continued power must not exceed 431.5 watts. but as far as the 8 pin connector goes, i dont want to just plug it in anyway. if nothing else getting that adaptor will enable me to route the power line behind mobo tray.

Sure in that case go ahead, either way it wont really matter.
