Right Mrs wants a 4x4 next

So i have been searching have seen 1 or 2 car like 4 litre Ford Explorer or Jeep Cherokee with a lpg conversion.

Now i currently have a 1.6 Astra 16v which does about 39 MPG.

The other to get about 19 MPG now on LPG you might get say 17-18MPG.

Now what i am trying to work out it is cost on lpg vs the cost on petrol on the Astra.

do you understand me and can anyone Help ?

Regards Matthew

Will she be going off road and using it for the reason they are made?

If not then go a car or if she still must need sit up high, an SUV

Go for a Landcruiser.

And since your Diesel costs are roughly the same as your petrol ones then go for a Diesel.
Dont go LPG due to the amount you have to pay to get it installed, and the fact that a tank of seems to get chewed through pretty quick.

Plus with a Landcruiser you will be very unlucky if you come across many Major troubles under 450,000 kms:D

Ive seen them down he still going like new at 700,000+

By your MPG figure, then LPG will have to cost less that 50p a liter for you not to have to pay out more for your motoring. Check where the nearest place you can buy LPG as it might be miles away which means a separate trip just to fill up. I have no idea where I could buy LPG

Theres a tesco near me that sells it for 46.9p currently .

i was looking for a car with the conversion already done too.

What do you sugest then? I havnt seen you give him advice yet

And there are Landcruisers that seem to be made to do this kind of thing, they are the more luxury model but if you want you can take them, off road almost as easy as any other.

You see lots of them with caravans and horse floats on the back driving all sorts of distances:)

forgive me, i was thinking of something else when you said landcruiser!

I'm here £2500 is tops im afriad but £2000 would be nice .

No land crusier she doesnt like it and im not keen too.

what about a Toyota surf ?

Toyota Surfs are Awsome Aswell:cool:

They are based on the hilux and seem to be pretty unkillable:cool:

IMO i would get a Diesel where i could and just forget about gas, its got a much better pulling range for towing things

You could pick up quite a nice Mk2 Shogun for that price.

My dad's got a 3.0 V6-24 and on average gets ~23-24 mpg around town, and about 20-21 mpg when towing. Half of the time when towing he doesn't even realise he's got the caravan on the back! ;)

Oh, and for towing, always get a LWB. SWB may look slightly better, but it doesn't have as much stability as the LWB when towing.
