i've just hooked up a 5.1 system and i'm not sure whether or not i'm hearing too much from the surrounds. Ie on sky movies, shouldn't the main dialogue come from the centre or the fronts? I've tried adjusting the speaker distance settings but it doesn't help as much as i'd like it to. Am i missing something?

I have sky+hd and in the sky audio settings i only seem to be able to choose stereo or mono - is there something up there?

EDIT: well actually a bit more tweaking and angling the rears differently seems to be doing some good. Watching Terminator 1 on sky HD now and getting some nice surround effects :)

No, the dialogue shouldn't be coming through the surrounds if the movie is flagged for DD. It should only be coming through the centre speaker.

You have the HD box connected to your receiver with an optical cable right?
