I currently have an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer which is used for, well, gaming and that's about it. And its served me well, though I've never used the on-board sound so have no idea if its really worth it.
Now, I'm considering upgrading my motherboard, but the one I'm looking at has no PCI slots, only PCI-X16 and X1 slots.

I have a Roccat Kave 5.1 headset, and looking at the sound cards available on OcUK, for PCI-E I have the option of either the Xtreme Audio 7.1 or the Xonar DX7.1.

At £60, the Xonar is a little out of my budget for a sound card, would the Xtreme Audio be worth it over the on-board sound, considering its only going to be used for gaming and not watching movies/listening to music?

Thanks!
