is the 540i meant to have just one exit on the exhaust?

Yes. Looks wise, the 540i Sport is identical in every respect to the 525i and 530i Sport with the exception of the high gloss shadowline (The black bits around the windows are gloss, not matt).

Can't believe how baggy those seats look for a car thats done so little mileage

Me neither with those seats. My 140k seats are immaculate.
well how high can the real mileage be if the seats are baggy? 200k? 250k? with improper maintanance the car surely will be broke by that time.

Also you gotta remember how fat the guy sitting in the seat must be, if he is fat then the leather will get more stretched, also how someone gets in and out, I twist myself so both feet are on the ground and then clamber out, this appears to wear out the bottom right wing of the seat.

Car has been given to a dealer because it's
a) too old
b) too high mileage.
they prefer 1-2 year old cars with <60k on them, otherwise its auction or independant dealer time for them.

Although the mileage is about right for one thats lived in town with lots of little journeys, kids in the back, etc etc so I guess its plausable.

I'll stick to my 140k'ers though, better condition and lower price :p

one thing I was thinking was,
How do you know the 140k hasnt done just as many town type journeys as a lower mileage one on top of long motorway runs?

Becuase the service history would reflect the usage of the car. Thats how BMW's variable servicing works. If you use it around town, it requires servicing sooner.

Looks ok to me, but the seats look similar (and in worse shape), to those in a luvverly black C plate 635 CSI with 110K on the clock in the body shop next to my factory.

Dang I want an old skool 6 series. It'd never make a sensible daily driver though. :(

Of course you would still have to be carefull with the high mileage ones incase they need a new gearbox and prop shaft :D . Good job they aren't built buy VAG! ;)
