50" TV Suggestions

Thanks for the reply.

55" is probably too big for my living room. Also I'm not too familiar on the brand. I'd prefer to stick with Samsung or Sony if that fits within my price range.

Also worth looking to see what John Lewis have in. Often they have offers on and they usually have better customer service and warranties than many other TV retailers/websites.

I understand the desire to go with a Sony or Samsung.

They don't use Vestel panels, which most of the high street does now. Buy a JVC, Hitachi, own brand super market or even a low end Panasonic and its a Vestel panel made in Turkey. Nothing necessarily wrong with that, and the electronics fitted to it make a difference which is why a Panasonic will be better than a Techwood, but generally the panels are perceived to be a lesser quality than the big three who don't use them:

Sony, Samsung and LG

However the HiSense TVs are gaining a good reputation and use their own manufacturing in China. They are something like the third biggest TV seller in the world and have huge traction in the US and Asia. Their recent sponsorship of the football Euros spearheaded a campaign with some great new sets. Well worth taking a look at in the flesh before you write them off for not having heard of them.

John Lewis and Richer Sounds, who both offer 5/6 year warranties, have started stocking them en-masse for a reason. They're now good enough to be part of their portfolios.
