£500 for a video camera

After being told that £300 won't get me much for my money, I've got another £200 to spend. So it needs to be 1080p (or more! ) and be able to focus well on background/foreground.

What can I get for £500, or is that still not enough?

I'm going to be making a film and so it will hopefully go to film festivals and things like that.

Just had a look at some test footage from a Nikon 3100 and it looked amazing!

Albert, I had a look at the camera you suggested, and there was a really big difference in the quality compared to the higher end ones.

Is there any other cameras I should have a look at?
