As titled I got some savings for a new monitor. I'm running a RX480 8gb so got some meat to run it. Mostly playing fps.
The asus MG278/9Q are looking good, but I'm considering an ultra wide curved if I can a reasonably priced one that has a fast response time and more than 60hz.

What would you guys reccomend? Do I need free-sync?

Thanks in advance

Yep as above, i would wait for Freesync 2. But if you need it NOWW i would go with the MG279Q instead of a 1080p ultra wide.
The only ultrawide i would get it 1440p ones.

Disagree with waiting, because the HDR monitors will be more than £500. For ultra-wides you'll need a bit more for the 1440p ones (plus a single 480 will struggle), otherwise the LG 29'' is dope (75 hz, IPS + 30-75 freesync modifiable range) and just about £250.

AOC AGON AG352QCX 35" 2560X1080 MVA 4MS 200HZ WIDESCREEN ULTRAWIDE CURVED LED MONITOR - BLACK/SILVE"

Just found this on Overclockers. At £599 that seems to be a lot of screen and hz

yeah but big screen, low res means low PPI.

Good for keeping decent FPS, but desktop will look pixelly, also with lower res I find you need to use AA, but on high PPI (I have 24" 1920x1200) I rarely need AA.

It would depend.

mg279q for windows desktop and gaming use, at a desk. Usual close distance

AOC AGON AG352QCX 35" for gaming, further distance, for consoles as well. More like TV rather than PC monitor. Lower resolution so you'll get better fps (but likely needing AA because of the low PPI) better for games where you don't need very fine detail (and closer to the monitor)
