ACESHIGH said:THe X1800XT is the faster card & is also cheaper than the 7900GT, but if you want to save even more money & still have a blistering card for the shorter term then simply go for the Sapphire 256MB X1800XT at only £217.32 Including VAT.![]()
easyrider said:You can get cheaper 7900 GT's than that and a price drop seems to be on the horizon.
The 7900's clock better than x1800 and as you have said Sithuk they run cooler and use less power and with the overclocking headroom that the the x1800 simple does not have in the same quantity you will find that the 7900 GT would leave the x1800 behind.
Plys the fact this leaves the SLI option open that out performs Xfire anyway.
locutus12 said:lol, they have been out for 4 days and already your claiming they clock well... youl have to wait at least 2 weeks before anyone can be certain of what they can do.

They get cherry picked press samples. If you believe them, then you are rather gullible - it's the same at Xtremesystems - I take everything they say with a pinch of salt.easyrider said:I'll tell you on tuesday/wednesday![]()
And the reviews speak for themselves.

Those are heavily speed binned. They get all the cards and test them basically. The ones which work at the higher speed on stock volts get put into the OC models and everything else will be sold as normal. Don't forget, nV does not supply them with OC cores, they just supply them with a bunch of cores. The ones tha make the grade are binned and the ones that don't left as they are. They will only do this until they have made the prerequisite number of OC models so there are a few that slip the net untested, and these are the good clcokers.easyrider said:The XFX 7800 GT runs at 560MHZ/ 1650MHz
This is faster memory than some GTX's and yet i is just the same Card as the standard 7900 GT just factory overclocked.
I will be really suprised If my 7900 does not overclock to these speeds and beyond.

locutus12 said:yea, thats wise... *shakes head in dissmay*
I think the point is that the X1800XT is no less of a clocker, and much easier to clock with the voltage software.easyrider said:Bios flashing

Whats your point?

ACESHIGH said:Yes, both the X1800xL & X1800XT cards have shown to clock very well.
As for the 7900GT its too early to tell, with genuine cards (not cherry picked press samples).
