Kinda baffled on this one. I can run Dirt2 at 1920x1200, 4xMSAA on high settings and get solid frames. But The Sims 3 lags and tears like mad even on mid/low settings?

Any help appreciated. Latest Cats and everything; games patched.

I've always thought that the sims was a very demanding game. My girlfriend plays it a lot, and it has always taken its toll on her system. Hard drive speed seems to be the best way to speed the sims up. RAID 0 helped lauras system play it a bit better.

once she has put allllll of those damned add ons on it jsut gets slower, and slower, again hard drive speed seems to be key.

It's just one of those things really, probably has helped to take a chunk out of PC gaming's reputation. Average people play it on average or below average systems and it runs like a bag of hammers :( does not make PC's look good.

Yeah, I can't believe people play it, I never thought I'd like the game but I caved in and bought sims 3 just to see what the fuss was about.
It is totally unplayable, you can't scroll around a map without it jerking and chugging. Tried it on three very different systems and it's exactly the same. 40 quid down the sh*tter. Tried it again a few weeks ago thinking maybe a few patches had sorted it, still the same. Very very badly coded engine.

strange, I never had problems on my old system (Athlon 3500+, 2GB Ram, 4850) at 1920x1200 with no AA. Last time I played on my current system I threw everything up and was completely smooth with 10 high detail lots.
