580 GTX Price is up....

Prices are a killer, this card should be in the £350-375 bracket.
£400 they can shove it.
Got one delivered for £379 which is on the cusp of what this card is worth tbh.

From O/C's ....

Processing Cores: 512
- Shader Clock: 1544MHz
- 33% performance better than stock GTX 480
- 46% performance better than stock HD 5870 2GB
- Bus Type: PCI-Express 2.0

I keep hearing it's 15-20% faster so why does it say 33% ? is this inflated my Nvidia.

And just in case i am not IN NO WAY A AMD/ATI FANBOY. i am just asking.

In Vantage it is. It should really have an asterisk attached as I can see people who don't read forums expecting it to be 33% faster than a gtx480 in games and be bitterly disappointed.

Seem at be higher than expect in price. Now let's hope AMD will bring out 6950/6970 on time and bring on the battle and price war, then everyone happy to get the card of their choice at a lower price...

found this on bit-tech.net

However, the new GF110 design still uses the 32 stream processors per SM layout of the original GF100 rather than the 48 per SM of the GeForce GTX 460 GPU.

Even Nvidia sees the 32 layout as a less efficient design, but we suspect that it’s not possible to get four GPCs (Graphics Processing Clusters) with four SMs each onto a die small enough to actually make if each SM contained 32 stream processors rather than 32. In the end, brute force wins out.

Perhaps this layout will change with TSMC’s 25nm process, but that’s not due until halfway through 2011, with GPUs based on this process (from ATI and Nvidia) pencilled in for the autumn of that year.

There is always something that puts me off from buying now ! but i want a new card NOW............

Thoughts on the review sites seem to be able to be summed up as - see what AMD can do later this month (perhaps more on price/performance than outright performance) - and perhaps NVidia might sweeten the pill.

I'll wait too.
